The judge in the Trump hush money trial donated $35 to the Democratic Party during the 2020 election. Part of this donation was to a group that wanted to stop Republicans.
The question is: Should he have recused himself? Again, the argument is that this should not have mattered. Legal scholars have concluded that the problem was the client “Donald Trump.” The testimony given by Pecker, Daniels, and even Cohen showed that Trump orchestrated the whole thing.
The Republicans believe that the judge was prejudicial and politically motivated, and all this will be overturned on appeal. My personal opinion is that a judge like this should recuse. That way there wouldn’t be the idea that there was a “hand on the scale” so to speak. The American people will make their final decision at the ballot box.
