He had everything! He was the greatest quarterback that ever lived. A beautiful wife and three kids that always were in attendance when he played. But now even with a packed stadium, he plays to an empty crowd. His wife and kids are no longer in attendance because he broke his word to them. A promise he made that he would retire and then changed his mind.
His wife has filed for divorce and the Buccaneers have three wins and four losses. But even if he has the best season ever, he loses. He has no wife. He has no family. How can you give up your family? What possible career could be worth that? The whole thing reminds me of what Vito Corleone said to his son Santino in the Godfather. He said “A man that doesn’t spend time with his family can never be a real man.” 1.
